New Music Clips Up, Gig At The Cellar This Sunday, and The Stupidest Dream I’ve Ever Had

March 28, 2009

Several months ago I received some complaints about the fact that you can’t hear me solo on any of my song clips on the music page. That’s right, one would actually have to purchase the song to hear any more than a minute or two of melody. The gall! How could I have been so bone-headed?! That’s gonna run at least $0.99! I mean WTF!?

Well your voices have been heard my frugal friends! You will wait no longer as I have re-edited all my clips to include some soloing as well. No, I’m afraid you don’t get the whole song for free, I don’t give it up that easy! more…

Vote For Me! Vote For Me!

March 18, 2009

I’m writing my “Saturday Morning News Post” on a Wednesday for a very important reason. Yours truly has been nominated for “Best Jazz Clarinetist” by the National Jazz Awards. And do you know how the winners are chosen? … BY YOU! That’s right, you can decide my fate no matter what country you’re voting from! So what will it be? Will I toil for yet another year in complete obscurity or will I be propelled to the heights of Canadian Jazz Clarinet-dom? It’s in your hands, go ahead, drink it in, you are now the master of my destiny.

Okay, now get off your high horse of ascendancy and go vote already! You can do so on-line by visiting www.nationaljazzawards.com and clicking on the red “2009 voting booth” button or just click here to go straight to the booth. Oh, and one more thing, … you must answer all the questions in order for your vote to count but don’t worry, the “None of the above” option will work if you just want to speed through it. Now for the love of God, spread the word and let’s get me on the fast-track to a substantially more impressive resume! more…

You’re not alone! Most of us have had to practice something physical in our lives, whether learning a new sport, a musical instrument, or the 5-point palm exploding heart technique. Sure, there are hundreds of “books” out there on the subject but are you really going to go to Chapters, Amazon, or the library to pick one up? Didn’t think so. So save yourself the time, gas, and late fees and read on for my “Busy Persons Guide to Practicing Anything, … But Mostly Music.” more…

Update: CDs, Singing Lessons, and Krav test

March 8, 2009

Hello everyone! I’m going to infer by the lack of reader response that “The Death of CDs” is kind of a passe topic that people have accepted and are grudgingly getting used to.
Yes James, the CD is on it’s way out as sales have been falling fast for 6 years now while downloads, both legal and otherwise, have been rising. So nice that you, a professional musician, are finally coming to terms with this in 2009!

Some people however, more…

The Death Of CDs… Your Thoughts?

March 2, 2009

Sorry about the late news posting everyone, I’m trying to get these things up by Saturday morning but sometimes my news is so completely devoid of excitement I have to scrap it. You, my devoted readers, deserve better. So I’ve got a question for you this time … more…
