I know,… it’s Sunday. WTF!? right?
Readers, yesterday I attempted to create and post my 1st podcast. I didn’t know how to do it but damned if I wasn’t going to give it my best shot. You see, this is what I do: Over think something, hash it out like I’m chewing a piece of steak into paste, until I can’t stand thinking about it any more! And then I have to do it IMMEDIATELY.
Well, I recorded it and included one of the new electroacoustic tracks to boot. However, at 4:30AM I was unable to upload it, and at 5:30AM I gave up and retreated to my pillow.
Turns out it was for the best though because after listening to it today, not half-asleep and tipsy?… em,…yeah, really fucking boring. I mean JESUS! Not even “awkward yet kinda amusing” boring, just bad.
But I’ll tell you what, if you’re ever looking for a reason to run head-long into a lamp post, or break a wine bottle over your head then just try recording yourself speaking for 15 minutes and then listen back to it. And if the sound of your own voice isn’t enough to make your teeth want to reach back and eat your brain then make sure the subject you’re talking about is abstract yet personal (i.e. explaining the inspiration behind a song you’ve written and the complex, seemingly unrelated, array images you associate with it). Yeah, that’s a good thing to try and put together at 4AM after a few scotches.
But readers, failure is how we learn and I’ve already learned A LOT since last night’s debacle (no more awkward pauses JD, no more awkward pauses!). The wheels are indeed in motion so check back next week and I should have a short podcast up for your listening pleasure.
Speaking of failures, the above image is taken from failblog.org; if you’re looking for a few laughs, I recommend visiting this site soon.
Besides that, I don’t have much to report, getting some good practice time in this past week and I even started practicing the EWI again! Yes, it’s time to get back up on that horse now that a year has passed since my debut
disaster performance one year ago.
P.S. A shout-out to all of my reader(s) currently tooling around India,… ain’t life grand when you’re travelling?! Wish I was there!
