Back To The West Coast, James… “Intimate and Thoughtful”

backHello, good morning afternoon, and welcome to the Saturday Morning News Post!

Readers, it’s been such a crazy couple of weeks that I wasn’t able to write the SMNP. Let’s see, I finished the big band charts, recorded them (haven’t been able to listen to it yet), drove down to New York City for 4 days, and enjoyed concerts by the Phil Woods Quintet, Darcy James Argue’s “Secret Society” big band, and up and coming trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire. Had a great time, caught up with a few friends, with many more to catch up with next time.

Then,… went back to Montreal to pack up everything and move back to Vancouver. That’s right, all my possessions are moved back to my hometown, I have given up the Montreal apartment, and the shipping address has been changed for all my men’s magazine subscriptions, so you see… there can be no doubt… I’m back in Vancouver baby!!

It feels good to be back, and while it’s going to be a challenge in some respects to get things going here, I already feel inspired to put some new projects together with Vancouver musicians and am hopeful that I can bring something new and exciting to the table here.

And with that I’m off to practice for upcoming shows at The Cellar, May 6&7, more on that later!

Thanks for reading and Happy Easter to anyone who celebrates it,… or to anyone who celebrates long weekends. jd1

The West Coast is happy to have you back!

Thank you all! … as for the NOLA project, I’m thinking a July concert but I’ve got to rearrange the music first, the band’s gettin bigger!
