EXTRA, EXTRA: COMEDY & JAZZ REUNITED AT LAST @ THE CELLAR NEXT WEEKEND MAY 6/7!!!

comedy&jazzHello, good morning, and welcome to the Saturday Morning News Post!

Readers, it’s been a terribly exciting week for me as I had the opportunity to play with stellar jazz musicians Campbell Ryga, Seamus Blake, Hugh Fraser, Jodi Proznik, and Craig Scott as part of Musicfest Canada (a highschool music festival) in Port Alberni where we were all adjucating for 3 days. With the exception of Jodi (who’s my age), I’ve been listening to these guys play since I was a kid, so having the chance to perform with them after all this time was truly nerve-wracking an honour.

But you know what else is exciting,… MY SHOW NEXT WEEKEND AT THE CELLAR. The poster says it all, comedy AND jazz together again.

Again?! I’ve never heard of such a thing! you say? True, you don’t see it very often today but these art forms share a long history together from the beginning of vaudeville shows in the 20’s right through to Miles Davis concerts in the 70’s and we’re about to bring it back baby!

Featured next weekend are two of my favourite Vancouver comics: Graham Clark and Ivan Decker.

It’s going to be funny and it’s going to be swingin’ so tell ALL your friends and come and join us!! For more info on the club click here. To make reservations, call The Cellar at 604-738-1959 or email them at info@cellarjazz.com

Thanks for reading and have a great week everyone! jd1
