Hello, good morning, and welcome to the
Saturday Morning News Post!
Readers, I’m a sellout. A fact that was proven this past weekend when The Hummingbird Brigade SOLD OUT both Friday and Saturday night shows at the Cellar. So let me say a big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and another big THANK YOU to the band. They endured a long rehearsal on Thursday but it all payed off on stage and they played beautifully.
Some highlights,…hmmm,… let’s see. We premiered a brand new tune of mine called “SPEEDSTER” (which needs some tweeking but I like it overall), both nights were enthusiastic sold out crowds, the band and I sang a few tunes, some people got up to dance… What else?
I played gongs! Big ol’ Chinese gongs. I banged the hell out of’em; and it was fun. Cathartic even.
Sooo, when will we play again? I’m thinking January. I’d like to do something sooner but I gotta focus on performing the electronic music, getting the new label up and going, releasing those records I mentioned a thousand times, etc.
Right now, it’s time to go to bed, tomorrow’s schedule is all about finishing a grant application which is due, you guessed it, tomorrow.
Sometimes people ask me, “Danderfer, you had months to prepare for this. Why leave it until the last minute?” The answer is simple, there’s too much to do when you’re running your own small business (which is what I consider freelance artists to be closest to, schedule-wise). It’s exciting to do what you love BUT we still need steadfast deadlines to get things done. And it’s only when the deadline presents enough pressure that you find the time for it. … And yes, THAT is how I justify my behaviour.
On that note, thanks for reading and have a great week! Next week, the unveiling of the record label.
