Extra, Extra: MARCH 9th release party at Pat’s Pub for ‘Swingin’ at the Patricia’ album.

Hello, good morning, and welcome to the Saturday Morning News Post!

Readers, shocking news! I have set an honest-to-goodness release date for my trio recording, the very 1st album to be released under my new record label, Reigning Parade. So mark this party down in your calendars!

‘Swingin’ at the Patricia’ album release

FRIDAY, MARCH 9TH

@ PAT’S PUB (in the Patricia Hotel, 403 East

Hastings St.)

9 – 11:30pm, $10 cover

No reservations, 1st come 1st served.

For those of you who don’t know the story behind this music, it’s simple, we’re playing some swingin’ “dirty 30’s” style music inspired by one of the creators of jazz, Jelly Roll Morton.

But wait! It gets even better…

We’re gonna be playing Jelly Roll Morton’s music in the very same room where he performed in Vancouver from 1919-1921, the Patricia Hotel. It’s gonna be fun. So come on down to Pat’s Pub on March 9 and let the The James Danderfer Trio (featuring Miles Black on piano, and Joe Poole on drums) take you back to a simpler, grittier, and swingier time!

Of course, I have to thank the Patricia Hotel for helping to fund this new album and for offering Pat’s Pub as the venue for the release party. As well, I have to thank CBC Radio for bringing it all together in the 1st place two years ago. You see, if it wasn’t for the CBC including me in this event, I wouldn’t have even known that Jelly Roll lived and performed in my home town of Vancouver. And I gotta say, knowing that one of the greatest musicians in history once performed regularly in my home town, at a venue that still exists, really does give me a visceral connection to the brief but rich history of Vancouver. And for that, I thank them.

Thanks for reading and have a great week everybody!
