Should Perfectionists Run Record Labels?… Sure. With Lots of Help.

Hello, good morning, and welcome to the Saturday Morning News Post!

Readers, everything is hard the first time you do it. This is what I have to keep reminding myself as I plow on with the little details surrounding this, my first release on my new record label, Reigning Parde. UPC codes, IRSC codes, where to print CDs, how many (not many), overseeing mixing/mastering, tune order, design layout, copyright, and so on and so forth…

It does make me wonder if perfectionists are well suited to putting out records but hey,… I gotta be! Besides, this is kinda why I wanted to start a record label in the 1st place, so I could present my music just the way I wanted. And you know what?… it’s pretty damn exciting! Therefore I know I’m on the right track. :)

The other fun part about this has been working with other talented people to make things come together. I’ve put the very talented Megan Danderfer (yes,… my sister, ah nepotism) in charge of cover layout/design, she in turn enlisted the aid of photographer/man of leisure Adam Bullied to take promo shots at the Patricia (Adam, sorry I had to sully the above photo with all that text but I had to put it somewhere!). There have been many others helping along the way including Chris Gestrin, Norah Johnston, Sam Nixon, Feli di Georgio, Guy MacPherson, Steve Mynett, Shauna Johannesen, Cory Weeds, CBC Radio, Chops GRANDE, Mark Busse, Tyler Wilman, Matt SamyciaWood and the team at Industrial Brand just to name a few.

I know, I should leave the ‘thank-yous’ until after it’s all done but I just couldn’t wait!

Thanks for reading and have a great week everybody!
